Starting With a Finish!

Chain Link
First blog post...very scary, but here goes!  Just a couple of hours ago I put the last stitches on this quilt called Chain Link from the book Link to the '30s  by Kay Connors and Karen Earlywine.  I'm really happy with it and really happy to have it done.  I think I'm over prairie points now, too.  They aren't difficult, just a little fiddly, but I felt I had to hand baste them in place and then after they are sewed on you have to fold the backing under and stitch it down.  I did that by hand too but I'm sure a more skilled quilter could do it by machine.  My fingers are sore.
Hmm, looks like my borders are wavy in the pictures.  Oh well, I am nothing if not an imperfect quilter, though I did measure like you're supposed to and really tried to make them fit!

The thing I'm really happy with is the quilting.  I know it isn't great but this is my first try at doing free motion feathers and it was such fun!  In the white squares I quilted feathered wreaths and in the borders a slightly curvy feathered vine.

Maybe you can make out the quilting in this picture.  Imperfect, but addictive.

Now that's done and I am so ready to start cutting into some more fabric!

Posted this over at Quiltstory's Fabric Tuesday .

Love all your quilts. I am a Kaffee Fassett fan, so that quilt looks terrific to me. The baby quilt is so cute and your quilting on it looks super.
